Palladium

A naturally white platinum-group metal that is lightweight, hypoallergenic, and affordable.

Definition

Palladium is a naturally white precious metal in the platinum group. It shares many of platinum's desirable qualities — hypoallergenic, tarnish-resistant, and naturally white — but is significantly lighter and more affordable. Palladium jewelry is typically 95% pure (950 palladium). It does not require rhodium plating and maintains its white color permanently.

Why It Matters for Ring Design

Palladium offers a middle-ground option between white gold and platinum. Its lighter weight makes it comfortable for larger ring designs, and its natural whiteness eliminates rhodium plating maintenance. It is an excellent alternative for clients with nickel allergies who find platinum too expensive.
